چکیده

This paper draws upon Bacharach‟s (2006) dual levels of agency to develop a model of how the circumspect aspect of we-reasoning functions for relevant games. The aim is to predict the extent of cooperation and coordination across a variety of game types. The model developed here yields a cost/benefit ratio threshold for players to choose cooperatively. Two experiments are run to provide data on some relevant hypotheses. The results of these experiments offer strong support both to the presence of circumspect we-reasoning and to our proposed model. # [email protected] Economics Program, UWA Business School, M251, 35 Stirling Highway, Perth, Australia. *Financial support from the Business School‟s precursor at UWA is appreciated, and to a UWA-administered Australian Research Council small grant. A Choice for ‘ Me ’ or for ‘ Us ’ ? Using We - Reasoning to Predict Cooperation and

Cooperation is the foundation of human social life, but it sometimes requires individuals to choose against their individual self-interest. How then is cooperation sustained? How do we decide when instead to follow our own goals? I develop a model that builds on Bacharach’s (2006) ‘circumspect we-reasoning’ to address these questions. The model produces a threshold cost/benefit ratio to describ...

Coordinating Orders in Three-echelon Supply Chain using price adjustment mechanism

Supply chain coordination has become a critical success factor for supply chain management (SCM). In the past few years, the researchers have widely emphasized that cooperation among supply chain (SC) firms is a key source of competitive advantage. This paper is focused on supply chain coordination from the perspective of inventory management. Li and Liu [1] developed a model for illustrating h...

GAME OF COORDINATION FOR BACTERIAL PATTERN FORMATION: A FINITE AUTOMATA MODELLING

In this paper, we use game theory to describe the emergence of self-organization and consequent pattern formation through communicative cooperation in Bacillus subtilis colonies. The emergence of cooperative regime is modelled as an n-player Assurance game, with the bacterial colonies as individual players. The game is played iteratively through cooperative communication, and mediated by exchan...

طراحی مدل‌ عامل‌محور و کاربرد آن در باستان‌شناسی

The aim of this paper is to consider what constitutes agent-based modelling (ABM) and how this can relate to archaeological reasoning. The development and construction of ABM models is an essential prerequisite for most archaeological reasoning. Both directly and indirectly, archaeologists are making extensive use of ideas and methods in applications that derive from archaeological, anthropolog...
